Mysteries of Shri Krishna's flute

Recently few friends called up and discussed on few aspects of Krishna's flute. I was glad that at least these articles were able to raise inquisitiveness in few minds. These questions are very pertinent and are opportunity for me to explore more, share more….

I have experienced that there is no replacement of Guru but such articles or thoughts could create a desire to know and learn these hidden treasures of our life. Few of such minds are so determined that they are able to surrender in the holy feet of Guru and experience these levels, these dimensions of life.

let me share the questions that were posed:-
What does a flute signify to an ordinary human? Could Krishna's flute be compared with an ordinary flute?
What is in the flute for me? How could I use this science to benefit myself and others?
If flute is so important why did Krishna left it in Vrindavan and moved on in life?
Why did Krishna never played music on any other flute after leaving Vrindavan?
Could we use this knowledge to benefit the mankind? And various others……
Similarly, is flute relevant in our life all the times or it looses its importance as we grow old?

These are very interesting questions. Let me start with a story of a life changing event in Shri Krishnas life. It was his last meeting with Radha in Vrindavan. She permitted him to move on in life and go to Mathura. Shri Krishna handed his flute to Radha and left for Mathura. In Mathura he killed Kansa and Rule at Mathura was restored. Vasudev - father of Krishna sent him to Sandipani Ashram for his education at Ujjain. Its like trascending from Vrindavan to Ujjain or Mahabhaav to Mahakaal. He completed his education at Ujjain in a very short time and took over the responsibility of restoration of Dharm from Parashuram. He got his Sudarshan and then he used it to rule and clear all that was cause of Adharm.

It is really challenging that if flute is so important in life and conveys so many meanings, then why did Shri Krishna gave it to Radha before leaving Vrindavan? He should have taken it along. legends state that post leaving Vrindavan Shri Krishna never played flute, so what could be the significance of flute that was there and was not found later with him.

A very intersting fact has been hinted here by Maharishi Ved Vyas that at the peak of Love and Bliss play - Shri Krishna handed over his self as flute to Radha. It has been highlighted in Upanishadas that Pran is the basis of life. One could survive without hands, legs, eyes, ears but not without Pran. Pran is breath and plays the flute in body. Shri Krishna before leaving Vrindavan came to meet Radha and surrendered to her Love as a gratitude for her. Radha is Raaseshwari and entire Raas was her play with Krishna in various forms to complete his yatra to perfection.

Shri Radha accepts his flute and allows him to proceed. This means that she accepts his physical form and merges it with herself, such that he stays in her for ever. She then assumes the role of nature and allows form of Krishna to proceed. Therefore, when Krishna offers his flute, Radha accepts him, merging into herself and allows the unified him to go to Mathura. This is the peak of Sagunawastha that is worded by great saints as Parbrahmawastha, Maha Vishnu, Param Shiv, Maha Tripur Sundari, Perfection, Purnata, Infinite of infinites, etc....  In this state the need of the flute was over.

We could dig a bit deeper to understand better...... Great saints know that there is a divine breath that moves between Heart - Anahat Chakra to Dwadashant. It is the most hidden treasure of life. Raas Leela follows Laya along this path. These two processes of Laya and Srijan are similar to exhale and inhale of this divine breath. Raas is created by Radha to fulfill her desire for her Love play while Krishna experiences bliss and overflows with gratitude for her Love.

Krishna had demonstrated 100% acceptance in life. He says that accept everything and let the response flow out of yourself. He accepted the flute that took him to the great inner heights and then handed over this to Radha - Raaseshwari. Same is the observation shared by one of the friend. Its really interesting observation that Krishna had never played his flute after leaving Vrindavan. This observation raises many questions like, if flute is so significant then what happened that he never played it in rest of his life?
