Shiv parivar around Shiv Linga

Mahashivratri is a pure and divine occasion that reflects changes happening in our internal state. It’s an occasion of celebrations in the holy feet of Guru. Its best worshipped with Tatvamasi Kriya.

This time the occasion was such that all of us could go to the temple together for worshipping. We performed the puja and came out to sit under a tree for a while as entire temple was crowded by Shiv Bhakts. We relaxed for a while and came back. My daughter was quite serious so we asked her on the issue. She is young and said, I could not understand the entire Shiv Parivar sitting outside the Shiv Ling. She asked, why were they there ?

Are you talking about family of Shiv, I asked.

Yeah, she said.

Are you trying to understand why the entire family is sitting around Shiv Linga.

Yeah, and why are they sitting like that in a particular way? As I have seen that they sit in this way in almost all temples.

Ok, Then we will discuss this in the evening when we all will be sitting together for some time.
She agreed and we moved on for our daily activities.

In the evening we all generally spend some time together. Today, I found that all were informed by her that we will be discussing about Shiv Parivar.

Now this was time for me to ask them some questions to assess if they remembered our discussions during visit to Mahakaal, Ujjain.

Do you remember flow of cosmic energy from Universe to the ground through us creates some vibrations.

She said we discussed on this and when this energy passes through our body, through our spine to get grounded from Mooladhar Chakra; they produce certain vibrations in each chakra corresponding to the element of the chakra. These vibrations when observed are Sanskrit words and when these are joined together, they form Panchakshri Mantra.

Then you will agree that this keeps on happening in us all the time, irrespective of our awareness of the process.

My son said, its obvious. These vibrations are happening on their own and hence will continue without our interventions. We remember you said this process is termed as Abhishek and is very powerful. We need not to do anything just realize it’s happening.

You are right but this is a flow from top till bottom of the body and passes through several meridians, naadis, marmas to revive us.

Now, just look at it from top view. The flow comes from above the head and it hits one chakra then flows down the next chakra and similarly flows down to last chakra to get earthed. This means that something happens in each chakra such that it oscillates and creates some impact on us.

Therefore, it’s important to understand this chakra activity. Each cross section of chakra will have something common though there will be lot of differences emanating from elemental characteristics of that chakra.

She asked, you mean to say we should have a top view of the body and then see a chakra.

Yep, I replied. If you see a chakra that way, it will have something common across all chakras. There will be channels through it carrying the energy, there will be some form of chakra, there will be some crisscross circuits in the chakra; chakra might be rotating in clockwise or anti clockwise direction and finally, some output will be coming out from all the processing in the chakra. This output is to be consumed by something that is neutral charged and could sustain life.

They were listening carefully. I asked, “do I need to repeat or it is clear.”

They are not making any sense could you make it bit simpler.

Ok, Chakra is a Sanskrit word that means wheel. Wheel rotates either in clockwise direction or anti clockwise direction. Hope this is fine….

Lets now look at wheel where it touches the road or ground, that is the only contact that makes the difference in our lives. Entire automobile industry is dependent on this very basic phenomenon.

Right, next is that this wheel has some specific shape or form that makes it chakra or round.

Now, only two more aspect that you need to set in your mind before moving on to Shiv Parivar.

You will agree there is some supply of energy to the wheel to rotate or have some internal stress that compels it to move. Last but important point is friction reduction mechanism so that maximum energy efficiency or productivity is achieved from the wheel.

Now its clear but how does it relates to our internal chakras? She asked.

Visualise chakra in your body like wheels. These will then be seen as connected through power chord – sushumna in spine. They will be rotating due to the energy flow. If you focus on these chakras, you will be able to see its form. Friction reduction mechanism will be letting it rotate freely. The contact point of these chakras will be providing life giving oscillations to the body and these are words of Panchakshri Mantra.

Hope you could visualize it better now.

Consider where do you stand when you do Jalabhishek on the Shiv Linga. Shiv Linga is generally round and one could stand anywhere but Devi yoni decides on the direction. One has to stand on the other side of Jalhari. Jalhari is the tunnel for liquids to flow. This Jalhari connects us with life and is in North East direction.

Paused for a minute and continued that entire Vastu Shastra is derivative of this facet. North is Devi and East is Shiv. North East is where they meet in nature. We all have read the importance of these directions.

But what is the significance of this Jalhari in our body? She asked.

Look, Chakra is located in the spine at the back of the body. Chakra is rotating around a centre, which is Jyoti or wand of light or Shiv Linga. The Jalhari is where it provides its life giving force or vibrations.

Could you now tell me when Chakra is in the back of the body then where Jalhari could be heading?

It will be towards the front side of the body…. A prompt revert by them all.

You are right, so we are on the same platform. So, far we have been able to see that there is a Shiv Linga and chakra is rotating around it with Jalhari pointing towards the front side of the body.

How could you say that centre is Jyoti or Shiv Linga or wand of light? She asked.

You will agree Shiv Linga is also called Jyotir Linga. Shiv is also termed as Prakash or Light. Sushumna that crosses through all chakras is like a wand of light.

Simply Sushumna is naadi glowing with Light and holds chakras like beads in a rosary. Therefore, it’s the centre of Chakra and the Jyoti at the centre of Chakra is Ling form.

She said that there is some story where light wand appeared in space and Brahma, Shri Vishnu went to find its end but could not find any. Hope this is the light wand or Shiv Ling that has no end which is spread between Universe and earth. Why don’t you share that story also?

Later as we have to understand Shiv Parivar secrets but certainly will discuss it next time in detail.

Now, we could move on to understand other members of Shiv Parivar.

Front side of body is neutral, however, chakra centre and petals are oppositively charged.  Its like Shiv is positive, Devi is negative and Nandi is neutral. Front of the body is neutral in charge and is like Nandi. Its required for living life in this world.                                                                                                                                                   Continued in part 2……..
