- What is significance of Holi that our Rishis defined it for celebrating on a particular time of the year only?
- Could we get our problems especially health related issues resolved at Holi?
- Why is Holi very popular among Tantrics?
List of such queries goes on…. making Holi more
unclear, hence need to understand its secrets.
Holi coincides with very powerful event in the
weather cycle and has direct impact on us, so we will try to explore it from
that perspective with a technique that may be referred as Holi Kriya to
get benefits of this celebration.
Holi is a festival, a celebration of colours and
is played for over few days in many parts of India. It starts with Holika
Dahan, followed with colourful days. The story behind Holi is also very
interesting…..Holi is named after Holika, who was sister of king Hrinyakashyap.
Hrinyakashyap was a demon king and hated Lord Vishnu, it so happened that he
got blessed with a son, who was worshipper of Lord Vishnu. His son was named
Prahlad. Prahlad word suggests about his choices, he was always in celebration
of life. Hrinyakashyap attempted to divert his mind away from Vishnu but was
not successful, and then his sister Holika suggested that she is blessed with a
shawl that will not catch fire if she sits in a bonfire whereas fire will burn
Prahlad. Hrinyakashyap liked her idea and they made a large bonfire where two
could be seated.
Holika sat there with Prahlad on her lap. She covered herself
with this magical shawl. It was then lit. Flames started rising higher and
higher, producing immense heat. Holika smartly tried to pull the shawl away
from Prahlad but somehow she missed and the shawl went on Prahlad covering him
from all sides. She got burnt to ashes while Prahlad was still safe with God’s
grace.
This story highlights many points and uncovers secret
to be happy even in completely adverse conditions.
Holi is the day after which temperatures starts
rising quite fast. The weather suddenly becomes so hot that it’s difficult to
handle increased heat in the atmosphere due to bright Sun. Prahlad shows the
secret key to this challenge.
The next day was celebrated as Lord Vishnu’s
grace was clear with the safe return of Prahlad. This is the day Holi is played
with colours…
The question now is that with this background, how Holi became so much colourful?
