A dip into secrets of Colourful Holi : Part 2
It’s Radha Krishna’s play that took this internal
journey to next level and demonstrated the secret of being blissfull (Prahlad).
It was the time when Radha realized her Para form
that made Krishna over joyous. To mark this happiness they celebrated Holi with
colourful flowers.
We know that flowers are colourful, having
pleasant smell and a soft touch. They arouse emotions…. Radha Krishna
celebration’s external play was this colourful Holi. This play resulted taking
us into that emotional state which was beyond comprehension and ultimately
resulted into Compassion.
This was then followed year after year and Holi
was played with flowers. The way of celebrating Holi further evolved and people
started throwing water on each other to cool their bodies on this hot day.
Human creativity has no limits, and to make this
water colourful, they started using different flowers. One such famous flower
was called as Tesu ke phool. This flower leaves its colour in the water.
As the time progressed, like any other process, the
substitutes of colours found their place. Now, we have colours made of
different materials and call them Gulal, Rang, etc.
Now, to dwell deep into secrets of Holi
celebrations, let’s look at it from different approaches – A yogic thought,
scientific explanation, Vedic wisdom, etc.
Holi is such an event that even Yogis also follow
though they employ techniques highlighted by Adiyogi Shiv. They prepare ‘Thandai’
– a typical preparation for cooling the entire body system. This drink prepares
the body to be able to handle sudden increase in heat in the atmosphere.
Thandai balances heat in body organs.
Radha Krishna’s Holi leela highlights a different
approach; Love, laughter and play to cool and balance internal energy that leaves
us wondering about those hidden concepts. This could help us in aligning
ourselves with the Anand (bliss) of this occasion.
We have also learnt in science that when a ray of
light passes through a prism, it divides into constituent colours. This is
called spectrum of light. These colours are different due to different
frequencies of electromagnetic waves. As per scientist Max Planck the energy is
dependent on frequency of radiation. So we know that we have different energies
that are seen as different colours.
Vedic wisdom highlights ‘Shiv –Shakti’ principle,
which explains that energy, has corresponding matter also. As the famous
scientist Einstein has explained by mathematical expression:
E=mc2,
He proved that energy and mass are inter-convertible.
Basis this scientists designed Atom Bomb. Which demonstrated release of
tremendous amount of energy when mass transformed in an atom bomb. Energy was so
large that it changed destiny of humankind.
So, we know that energy has a corresponding
matter also. On the same lines, in our body we have organs and their energy.
This pair is explained in detail in Tantra. Energy is identified as soul of the
organ or that body part. Energy is the Soul, while body part is identified as
Shiv.
This pair of organ and its soul is depicted by Shiv
– Shakti principle in Tantra. This gives us a basis for connecting us with
these colours. Different colours will have their different energies and
accordingly will have impact on different body parts. These pairs give us an
experience called life.
So, when Holi is celebrated these colours
activate the Love in their respective body parts. This play of Love balances
the matter-energy in such a way that body part is geared up to handle more heat
while enjoying astronomical and weather changes.
These colours also create a dynamic balance among
themselves, which finally leads Love to surface with a mix of Kalaas (characteristics)
of all the colours. This mixture is able to rise up into oneself to connect
with the universal play and upon nourishment it flows down into individual’s
heart as Karuna (compassion).
The impact of these colours is very powerful hence
when you play Holi this time, attempt to connect with your inner world to see
how these colours changes so many things inside us. How they take us to the
state of Bliss….
Remember to internalize else colours will be
washed away and the experience will become a memory rather than a transforming
activity which empowers us.
Now, the question is that how do we do
this?
