Mahakaal - secrets of Panchakshri sadhna Part II

......but you have to listen patiently. You must be aware that we are made up of five elements. These elements are arranged in an order of creation or merger. Let’s say if we start from head and go down the spinal column, we traverse from element of Sky till earth. Believe you remember the five elements.

She replied confidently, “Sky, Air, Fire, Water and Earth.”

Yes, you are right and the order of their creation is also the same. Our spinal column has one very important nadi or vessel – sushumna. This nadi holds various chakras, plexus or ganglions, these are called nodes of elements in yoga. These chakras are Vishudhi, Anahat, Manipur, Swadhisthan and Mooladhar. These 5 chakras have these 5 elements in the same order of creation.

Pausing for a minute, I looked deep into her eyes. I could see that she was alert.

I started again…..When the first spandan, vibration happens its known to us as Om. This Om gunjars and starts expanding. It expands in the direction of life the creation starts and elements manifests. This could be visualized as travelling down a very thin thread of bright light starting from head till Mooladhar.

Hope you are getting it so far….

She said, I will ask if anything is not clear, you continue…

See, this travelling from head till tail in Sushumna is activated by Panchakshri Mantra. This Mantra brings the Shiv down to Devi Kundalini at Mooladha where Ganesh is also there and we are achieved in our life. We are enlightened without doing any arduous sadhna.

This is not clear, what do you mean by Shiv coming down to Devi? She asked.

There are two centers in our body: one of these is head, its place of Shiv. The other center is Mooladhar, its place of Kundalini Shakti. Mostly, sadhak try to raise Kundalini to Head, where it could meet Shiv and gets satisfied. This way we are complete in ourselves, and get realized by merger of these two parts of our being. The other way possible is to flow down from Head to Mooladhar, where Kundalini resides. This way again we are able to get them together and gets achieved.

This could be understood better if we say that we do lot of activities or sadhana to merge into Inaction by rising to the head, the other one is letting the stillness flow down into Maya till its cooled, so that one is realized. This is the second process, where there is no action.

Hold on here, let me understand what this Kundalini is? She was clear in her mind.

Kundalini is Devi form, its Shakti – the other pole of life like you between two of us.

You would have observed that there are situation when we are trying to save life, like let’s say some dangerous dog is running after us. We are running ahead of him, but dog starts coming closer. Suddenly, we find that there is something that happened inside and we are flushed with lot of energy, the speed increases leaving dog much behind and we are saved.

This extra energy has come from Kundalini and hence in western countries they call it as Kundabuffer. We experience it in such situation on its own, while yogis try to wake it up so that this source is available for us on our spiritual path. I paused…..with a silence for some time.

She nodded her head, and I started again. Panchakshri Mantra directs the flow from head to Mooladhar where Purush - Male energy meets Stri – Female energy.

But how do you say that elements are represented in this mantra, I am not able to correlate the two?

You are right, the best part is to understand how this mantra has formed….. and placed in our body? What is the significance of these five Akshars? What is its relation with 5 basic elements and how it resolves this elemental energy for our benefit?
