Rudraksh – mystical seed holding secrets of Shiv upasana. Part 10
This axis that connects the third eye with the image spot at the back of the head is very important. The third eye is Kaalagni or the place of fire which burns out all boundations. This fire or Kaalagni is Rudra that is on one end of this axis. As we know axis is called aksh in Sanskrit, so this aksh with Rudra on one end is called Rudraksh. Now, let’s explore it slighlty more…
This axis has two ends one is where image is formed - it is Bindu. The other end is between the two eyes and is known as the place of third eye.
Third eye is fire and is able to see in time. Whenever Shiv has opened his third eye lot of fire had come out and burnt away everything. Rudra is fire, the ferocious Shiv, the destroyer. Therefore, this end is Rudra end and will naturally be hot.
The one end of this axis is hot and now for this axis to exist the other end will have to be cool. This cool end is known as Chandra or Moon. This way the temperatures are balanced and this axis exist with centre of balance at Agya Chakra.
Ok, but could you make it a bit more clear.
Yes, why not? Let me try it this way....
When Shiv opens his third eye fire starts coming out and it burns whatever comes in its way. There are many such instances mentioned in the Shiv Mahapurana but a story that is very popular is Kaamdev attacks Shiv with Kaambaan and Shiv opens his third eye. Fire comes out of this eye that burns Kaamdev's body. Hope you would have heard or read this story.
Right, Shiv opens his third eye, fire comes out and burns Kaamdev to ashes.
Ok, so you notice that one end of this hypothetical axis is hot being point for Fire. The fire is contained in this point of the axis, its just that Shiv opens this eye and the fire comes out.
Also, we know that this hypothetical axis is shortest distance to vision and connects Bindu on one end with third eye on the other end. We also know that axis in sanskrit is termed as aksh. Since this third eye contains fire - Rudra hence it’s Rudraksh.
