Shri Ganapati – Secrets of inner celebrations on the path of spirituality Part-7


There is another very interesting story in Puranas. It says that after Ganapati was born positivity started spreading all over the universe bringing prosperity. In this prosperity different Devtas or Gods started impressing upon their devotees that they are the most critical one for humans and they should be worshipped first. This question started gaining momentum and reached a level where the Trinity also got influenced with it. 

Shiv thought of an idea and suggested that who could cover the earth fastest will be able to reach to the rescue of his devotee - Bhakt fastest, so he should be worshipped first. 

It was acceptable to all Devtas and accordingly all the Gods assembled with their Chariots. They started as per the instructions of Shiv……and started going in rounds trying to move as fast as possible. 


Ganapati knew he had a challenge as he was heavy and his drive was a rat, so for him running around the earth was not possible. He didn’t want to even participate in this race but when Mother Parvati asked him, he started going around Shiv and Parvati, completing all his rounds. 

Ganapati said,
 "My Gods are my parents and I have done all the Parikramas by going around them."

Ganapati was intelligent and hence are called Devta of Budhi. He really did what was expected from him and he won the race. He was declared a clear winner and all Devtas accepted him to be the first one to be worshipped. 

Its Budhi – our intellect that lets us know and then only we could choose and worship or do any ritual, so the God of Budhi was the first one to be worshipped.

A story goes for Siddharth leaving every worldly item one after the other as a penance. It was an attempt to tap into the true self. It was an attempt to uncover the true immortal self. In this path of leaving all worldly possessions, he reaches a state when he had left everything and nothing was left with him for leaving.  In those moments of realization, he leaves that ‘leaver’ inside him, the leaver which was leaving all worldly possessions. The Shiva Mahapurana, Vidyesvara-samhita, chapter 25 shlokas 89 and 90 highlights that Shiv himself explains the greatness of the Bhasma and Rudraksha to Devi Parvati. Hare krishna hare krishna, krishna krishna hare hare He was dancing like flowing in some emotions. smile on the lips, simplicity in eyes, very flexible body movements as if he is physical manifestation of these lovely lines.... It was evening and our car was moving towards Allahabad. We were travelling back from Vindhyeshwari Devi. We had a divine darshan along with many spiritual experiences that made our yatra a success. A feeling of satisfaction was reflecting in our eyes. It was a feeling of accomplishing, getting something that we were looking for all these years.
