Saubhagya Teej – Secrets that were not revealed earlier
This year Teej was on Aug 13,
2018
It took 130 years to get Teej –
the third day of Waxing Lunar phase to fall on a Monday in Hindu Shravan month.
The second important aspect is that it was on third Monday of Shravan month.
Any one, who understands the importance of Shravan will understand that Monday’s
are most important in this Indian calendar month.
So, we call this third day of
waxing moon as Teej in Sanskrit. This is the third Nitya of Shrikul as per Shri
Vidya tradition.
Teej also means ‘the third’. It
also signifies the three together in a harmony. These three represent acts of
Generation, Operation and Destruction. So, when these three are in harmony, it’s
Teej.
Teej is a universal event, that
influenes us greatly and positively. In this period of rainy season, when we
have upset stomach and feeling depressed… Teej comes as a boon and turns it
into a celebration. The seeds start germination and starts coming out of earth.
Even our ideas/ desires starts getting manifested as harmony happens among
wake, dream and sleep states.
This balancing in wakeful state,
dream state and sleep state happens as Goddess of Teej – Tripur Sundari gets 16
year old and gets married to Shiv. In India Shiv is worshipped as Kaal – time
and when she is married to time, we find our dreams starts manifesting, giving
us happiness, bliss. To raise this level of bliss, three traditions that have
been followed over years include:
1. All
the ladies do their makeup like a bride to be like Tripur Sundari. Shodasi
Tripur Sundari is the most beautiful Goddess as she is most beautiful in our
wakeful state, in our dream state and in our sleep state also. She is our
beloved and dream girl.
2. To
enhance the feelings of bliss, they sit on the swingers (Jhula) in the evening
and use it to raise the energy levels in their body to the extent possible.
Generally this play opens energy channels and blissful energy rises up and reaches
above heart.
3. The
ultimate is union…surrender to the bliss waves filling body, heart and mind. Simply
ride these bliss waves. This way energy crosses mind also.
These are three acts of tradition that connects us with our inner world and we
reach this higher state so simply. This state is very difficult even for
Sanyasis. The only problem today is that we are not aware of these simple
techniques also and hence not able to utilize this universal phenomenon to blossom
our inner lotus.
Many a times the simplicity
itself becomes complexity due to conditioning of our minds…..
The deepest aspect of Teej also
is very interesting and we should dive into that also today. Teej is celebrated
as the day when Parvati – the mother of universe pleased Shiv and married him.
So, this is the marriage day of Shiv-Parvati. She could get him in his life,
and hence to me it’s a Saubhagya Teej…
A day that brings good fortune in our lives and like the way Parvati’s sankalp
(resolution) was fulfilled, ours could also be fulfilled. This day has power to
turn misfortune also into good fortune, so use this opportunity.
Shiv-Parvati union is very
important as it was the final stage of Parvati’s meeting Shiv. This was her 108th
birth. She had attempted 107 times to unite and realize herself but could not succeed
fully. This was 108th time that she was uniting with Shiv and there
was no more separation. They united forever… non separable. In Tantra it has
great significance. This is the state when a
Tantric reaches Sumeru of his Mundmala sadhna (Garlands of skulls). The mala (garland) exists because of Sati (Goddess)
and each of her energy forms comes and goes till he is able to reach complete,
perfect form that is able to unite with Shiv completely.
Purana’s tells stories that she worshipped
Shiv every time to marry him, whereas the inner secret is that Shiv was in
Samadhi worshipping her every moment to be able to reach that final stable form
of hers. This happens only at the 108th form. She is Parvati now.
She prepares herself as bride with Shodas Shringar and she is just ready for
the marriage with Shiv. This Shringar (Makeup) includes Heenna (Mahandi), which
changes the energy level of entire body especially spleen. She gets so much
grounded that Shiv has no choice but to accept her desire.
This is something like a sadhak
(seeker) getting sidhi (accomplishment) after his sadhna (practice).
Teej is the day which was
celebrated by Radha – Krishna and Gopis also. They enjoyed all three states of
nature. Radha Krishna Dolan Mahotsav is a common picture to show their bliss.
It’s a universal event when Love starts
overflowing to the extent that a Virakt (detached) yogi like Shiv also gets
pulled into it, so what to say about other life forms in this world.
Yog describes Teej as opening of
Sushumna Nadi and reaching a state of
illumination at Agya. How much ever feeble this illumination is, it’s a great
state to be in. The best part is that everyone naturally reaches this state on
Teej. There is no sadhna or practice required; only requirement is to be aware
of our inner world and consciously observe the changes.
Teej is a great event and by
adopting small techniques one could experience a quick realization of inner
bliss, pleasure. It’s easier to flow with the current and still get that bliss
which we have been craving for all life, hence you should take it as a
celebration and learn these small-small techniques from your Guru to make most
of this phenomenon or write in person on our mail id.
